I Use A happypagehk Adapter To Mount This Lens To My 1 Series Cameras. (1Ds MkII, 1D MkIII, 1D MkI) I Had No Issue With Mirror Clearance, But The Aperture Fin On The Lens Hit The Camera Body, Inside The Throat. Minor Shaving Of The Fin Cured The Problem...

After shaving the fin, I color it black with a Sharpie marker. Flat black model paint works well too. Other lens with the fin that I know of are - C/Y 100/2 Planar & C/Y 135/2 Planar. I think there are a couple others, but I can't remember at the moment.

I Was Not Going To Admit, The Sharpie Use... But If John Can, I Will Also.
I Have No Problems With my 100mm, But The 135 Needs The Shave. I Am Waiting For My happypagehk Adapter, Once Mounted, I Will See How Much I Need To Shave. I Use Dedicated Adapters, And Want To Be Able To Still Use The Lenses On My CZ-AX Camera. So I Found Once I Install The Adapter, I Can Judge The Amount Better....

If a sharpie is good enough for Terrell Owens... Does the large metal fin have a function with Contax bodies? I've never owned a Contax RTS, etc., to I just assumed the fin was there to ensure the lens didn't rest on any of the actuators when set on a table, etc. In my experience the aperture fin just needs the slightest bit of sanding. I don't think I had any issues on a 1-series, but maybe on 5D at some point. I haven't encountered any clearance issues with the 1Ds3. Whatever worked on the 1Ds2, has worked on the 1Ds3.

I Believe The Big Fin Engages Or Tells The Body To Act In A Certain Manner... But My AX Seems To Funtion Okay With The Shaved Fins. But It Was The Aperture Fin That Created My Problem. From My 11 Lenes, It Appears Not All Aperture Fins Are Created Equal... And AE Or MM Is Not Always The Difference... Though The AE German Lens Appear To Domainate The Issue
