CONTAX 35mm F1.4 DISTAGON
Adapter and fit feedback
www.pebbleplace.com/Personal/Contax_db.html

This thread is for ongoing discussions and experiences regarding the 35mm F1.4 Distagon on the Canon dSLRs such as the 40D, 1D Mark III, 1Ds Mark III, Digital Rebels and all other Canon dSLRs. If adding an entry about a lens & adapter, please include:

1) Whether the lens is a AE or MM
2) Whether the lens is made in Germany or Japan
3) Which adapter you are using
4) If the lens works properly at its minimum focus distance and at infinity

NOTE - THIS THREAD IS FOR THE F1.4 VERSION - NOT THE F2.8 OR F2.8 PC.

... My 35 f/1.4 AE hangs the mirror on my 5D but not on the 1DsII. I use a consumer grade Fotodiox adapter (which is 1.4mm, a little too thin in my opinion). The mirror clears if I shake the camera 2-3 times, but I guess this could not be considered as normal practice to shake the camera after every picture.

...and 1.4/35mm hangs the mirror and may even scratch the glass. this is with one of the thin adapters.

I have 3 copies of the 35f1.4, none of which have had problems on the 5D. I suspect that bad enough adaptors could cause problems with many lenses which would otherwise have adequate clearance.
