CONTAX 21mm F2.8 DISTAGON
Adapter and fit feedback
www.pebbleplace.com/Personal/Contax_db.html

This thread is for ongoing discussions and experiences regarding the 21mm F2.8 Distagon on the Canon dSLRs such as the 40D, 1D Mark III, 1Ds Mark III, Digital Rebels and all other Canon dSLRs. If adding an entry about a lens & adapter, please include:

1) Whether the lens is a AE or MM
2) Whether the lens is made in Germany or Japan
3) Which adapter you are using
4) If the lens works properly at its minimum focus distance and at infinity

Here's my report, all Kindai adapters and 5D. 21/2.8 - no problem.

Did you try the C/Y to EOS adapter of happypagehk with EOS 5D + 21 f/2.8? Smile

Why yes, yes we have Smile I do not own a Contax 21mm F2.8 Distagon, but Gary, a friend does. He's a bit of a gearhead, so he usually lets me try out is gear and save him the hassle of testing. We did used a HappyPageHK adapter on the 21/2.8 for some casual shots and it worked fine on the Canon 1Ds Mark II and Canon 1Ds Mark III. This was extremely informal testing simply for our amusement one afternoon. I do not have the test shots anymore. We did test for infinity focus - which was fine. We also looked to make sure the frame was evenly sharp on the left and right side. It looked fine. Neither of us have a 5D, so the 1Ds2 and 1Ds3 were the only cameras tried. Hope that helps. John

Thank you very much. I am wondering if the new 5D II will have the problem that 5D does with Contax lenses. Smile Cauz now I am struggling to get a 1Ds III or 5D II as your report shows almost all the contax lenses work on 1Ds III without any problems. Smile
